I used to smoke weed and cigarettes but… – Abeiku Santana reveals

Abeiku SantanaPrime time radio host, Abeiku Santana on eTV’s TLNCS with Giovani detailed why he quit smoking.

The Okay FM OAP noted;

“I used to smoke but it was not good for my health because in our family we have asthmatic history. So I was cautioned by doctors to stop smoking. I used to smoke weed and cigarette but I didn’t do cigar because it was too big and uncomfortable for my liking.”

He debunked the myth that smoking made one hyper and advised viewers to train rather than take drugs or alcohol to be hyper.

“It’s not true that when you drink or smoke you become hyper. I’m always around doing my things without these substances. If you need to be hyper, then exercise because the more oxygen you have flowing to your mind and back, the more at ease you become.”

“When you are stressed, it means there’s no oxygen in your brain or the amount of oxygen going to your brain is low. Stress is when you worry yourself with so many things. So those who need boosters and substances to perform, trust me, it won’t help you.”

“And once your body get used to it, you can’t leave a day without it and then you become a slave to it and controlled by that substance. That’s why Americans call it control substance. You shouldn’t let anything control you. Being it alcohol, sex or smokes. Your mind should control your body.”

How to tie and wear ‘Iro and Buba’

Buba1This amazing outfit is not going to get out of ladies’ minds and wardrobe anytime soon. The ‘Iro and Buba’ outfit have been advanced to look more stylish than ever with different gorgeous silk and chiffon patterns being put to play, from round necks to cow neck designs.

‘Iro and Buba’ is becoming a more fashionable trend for our ladies lately; be it the front up or other styles.

Iro and Buba is one commonest trend in Nigeria which Ghanaians have adopted and looks so amazing when worn right. Since it is just a wrap, it looks good on all kinds of body shapes enhancing the beauty of women.

In the olden days, ‘Iro and Buba’ was commonly worn by our mothers in order to be free and move about easily, and recently, the ladies have swayed from their skirts and slits to ‘Iro and Buba’.

One fascinating aspect about this attire is the fact that any fabric can be used to make it, and the knotting style just adds an edge to the style.

Fabric such as satin, chiffon and velvet can be used to create this style of fashion.

For a wedding look, the ‘oleku’ twist can be rocked with chic accessories or regular heels. However, you can also dress down with simple flats (sandals or slippers).

It however depends on where it’s going to be worn to and how you want to pair it. The Buba can also be twisted either in front or at the side, depending on whichever style you prefer.

I’ve been poisoned twice on set – McBrown

Nana Ama had a near-fatal motor accident in 2013

Actress Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that appearing on screen though “very beautiful” comes with its own difficulties.

According to her, it is not all about the glitz and glamour.

“From day one that I started my work, acting, people think they see you on TV and it’s beautiful. No doubt, it is very beautiful. But the attacks that you get, you have no idea of.”

Speaking on TV3’s Restoration with Stacy, the award-winning actress said she has been poisoned twice, for instance.

“I’ve been poisoned on set twice,” she said.

“I’ve been admitted in, we call it G. Komfo Anokye for two weeks without food. I went home with about forty drips or forty-five. Injections, I can’t count. So you know Akua, my soul ‘dieerrr’ not even my mother [has a hold of it]. It is for God,” she poured out to host Stacy Amoateng.

McBrown has starred in a number of movies and is considered one of the pioneers of Kumawood, the Twi language movie production that originated in Kumasi.

I’m not a lady – Deborah Vanessa

Deborah Vanessa AttentionModel and Television Presenter Deborah Venessa Owusu has revealed that she has never referred to herself as a lady because she does not see herself as such.

“I have never defined myself as a lady and if you check all my profiles, I never say I’m a lady. I don’t label myself as such,” Sister Debbie, as she is known in Showbiz, stated on NEAT FM’s Entertainment Ghana.

The ‘Uncle Obama’ singer, who was recently in the news after her nude pictures went viral on social media, explained that those pictures were intended for a Boudoir photography project.

“Boudoir photography is arts and modelling as well. That is something I do and I am passionate about. In our society, majority of us are not used to such photographs, which is fine,” she said.

Boudoir photography is another form of photography that has to do with taking sexually suggestive images of nude women or women in lingerie at luxurious hotel suites.

According to Sister Debbie, the artistic nude picture was a barter between herself and her photographer who was working on a project.

“The artistic nude picture which was taken in June 2014 is a barter trade between me and my photographer and that is not the first nude picture that I have put out there. I have three sets. I said barter because when I need promo pictures which should cost me over Ghc2,000, the photographer will do it for me,” she added.

The ‘Borla’ singer, who received a lot of bashing from her Ghanaian fans after her nude pictures were released, disclosed that when she gets those negative remarks about her nude pictures she does not get angry.

She continued: “When people see the picture and they don’t like it, I don’t get mad. It is not a problem because if you don’t understand, it is normal that you would dislike it or something.

I feel as a human being, if you are passionate about something you should do it as long as it is legal and it won’t affect anyone or you won’t be attacking anyone.”

Sister Debbie however admitted that since she posted the picture on Instagram, views on her YouTube account had shot up.

“When I found out that the picture was already out there and people were tweeting, I also posted it myself so that people will not think it was a leaked picture. Around that period, the views for my ‘Borla’ video had gone down and, yes, after I posted the picture myself, my views shot up to about 5,000 views. So yes it did help and I would agree to the fact that I used it to push myself,” she noted.

Meanwhile, Miss Vannessa debunked earlier reports which seemed to suggest that she received $8,000 for her nude picture.

“I was misquoted in that story. I didn’t say that because my artistic nude picture was posted on Instagram. But YouTube and Instagram have nothing to do with each other.

They are two different entities –YouTube under Google and Instagram on its own. If you post a video on YouTube and you have monetised your account such that anytime someone clicks on your video depending on the views, you will make money.”

“What I said was that since I uploaded my ‘Uncle Obama’ video in 2012 along with other videos, I had over a million views and for that I made about $8,000 so far from my YouTube account.”
