Kumasi is where Ghana happens – Mayor

Kojo Bonsu 3The Mayor of the KMA, Hon. Kojo Bonsu gave the assurance at a media soiree in Kumasi yesterday.

“Kumasi is where Ghana happens and therefore my office will do all within its power to turn it into a modern city to merit the status of any city in the World,” he said.

Hon. Bonsu said, “All projects initiated, one and half years since my assumption of office will accordingly be completed”.

“So far, as many as 121 physical projects have been completed with 109 more completed in the area of services,” he revealed.

The Mayor said, the Assembly has agreed to construct a modern state of the art Assembly building befitting the image and status of such a huge cosmopolitan city.

“Various offices and departments within the assembly must be properly housed to give staff comfort to work for maximum results,” he argued.

“Am happy to say that, after some debates regarding whether or not to construct the enviable rattary park edifice, this unique project is almost completed”. He said.

“This project is one of the best recreational facilities in the World” he emphasized.

Touching on the Kumasi Central market, the Mayor disclosed that, “all feasibility studies, soil testing and outlays of the market have been firmed up”.

“What is left to be done is the relocation and resettlement of traders around the zoo area of the market and the project will jet off”.

“Once the relocation is done, the project which will begin in three phases will take off”. He stressed.

The Mayor indicated that the Asawasi, Atonsu Agogo and many other satellite markets in the metropolis have already been awarded on contract for reconstruction works.

Hon. Bonsu called on the media to dialogue with his office to abreast themselves on happenings at the assembly so as to enable them accurately report on the KMA.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all media friends I offended last year, knowingly or unknowingly, to forgive me because I have also forgiven all I wronged in the line of duty”. He appealed.

“We are stakeholders in development in this beautiful city and we must co-exist as such. My doors are always opened to you,” Hon Bonsu added.
